03Custom pitching

Every pitch is written for one show, not blasted to a hundred.

A senior copywriter studies recent episodes, finds the angle that fits the host's audience, and writes a tailored pitch built around a story their listeners want to hear. No templates. No mass merges. The hit rates speak for themselves.

  • Episode-by-episode research before a single word is written
  • Story angles tied to topics the host already covers
  • Concrete value-to-listener framed up front, not buried
  • Follow-up cadence built in, polite, persistent, never spammy

Under the hood

What TargetScout actually scores.

Audience reach is the easy part, anyone can pull a download count. The hard part is whether a show's listeners look like your buyers. Here is what we measure to find out.

01

Audience composition

Who actually listens, income, role, region, buying intent, not just how many people download.

02

Topic alignment

How closely the show's existing topics map to your expertise and the buyer questions you answer.

03

Host receptivity

Recent guest patterns, openness to outside experts, and historical response rates to thoughtful pitches.

04

Engagement signal

Review velocity, episode comments, and downstream conversation, the proxies for an audience that acts on what it hears.

05

Production cadence

Active shows with consistent release schedules, not abandoned feeds with one episode every six months.

06

Guest history

Whether comparable guests have appeared and what kind of business outcomes followed for them.

Division of labor

What you do, what we do.

A fair question to ask any agency: where does my time go? With PodScout, your job description is short on purpose.

You ~2 hours / month

The high-leverage parts only you can do. Everything else is on us.

  • One 45-minute discovery call at kickoff
  • Approve the target list of shows before pitches go out
  • Show up to interviews already scheduled on your calendar
  • Skim a one-page prep doc an hour before each recording
  • Tell us what's working so we can do more of it

Kickoff & positioning

Discovery call, guest brief drafted, signature talking points locked. By Friday of week one, your positioning is documented and approved.

Days 4–7

Target list delivered

TargetScout returns the initial shortlist of ranked shows. You review and approve. We finalize sending order based on fit and audience priority.

The pipeline finds its rhythm: pitches going out, bookings coming in, recordings happening weekly. You see what works and we double down on it.

Days 60–90

Episodes air, inbound starts

Your earliest interviews go live. Listeners reach out, your network notices, and the compounding part of the strategy begins, audience by audience.

Common questions

Answers to what most people ask first.

How long until I'm actually on a podcast?+

Most clients have their first recordings booked within two to three weeks of kickoff. The first wave of pitches goes out by day seven, and hosts typically respond within five to ten business days. By day 30, your guaranteed minimum of four bookings is on the calendar.

Air dates are a separate timeline, hosts schedule recordings six to eight weeks out and release episodes on their own cadence, so most clients see their first episode go live around days 45 to 60.

What do I actually have to do?+

Plan on roughly two hours of your time per month, plus the interviews themselves. That's: one kickoff call, periodic approval of new target shows, and a skim of the one-page prep doc before each recording. Everything else, research, writing, scheduling, follow-ups, host coordination, is handled by the PodScout team.

How is this different from other podcast booking agencies?+

Three things. First, every pitch is custom-written by a copywriter who has studied recent episodes of that show, not generated from a template. Second, TargetScout scores audience composition, not just download counts, which is why our bookings consistently land in front of buyers instead of generic listeners. Third, we commit to a guaranteed number of targeted bookings, in writing, in your agreement.

What kind of shows will I get booked on?+

Shows where your specific buyer is already listening. For most of our clients, that means mid-tier shows with focused, high-intent audiences rather than the largest podcasts with the broadest demographics. A 12,000-listener show full of accredited investors is worth far more to a capital raiser than a 200,000-listener show full of general business listeners.

We do go after large shows when they fit, but the goal is always relevance over reach.

What if a recording gets cancelled or rescheduled?+

We handle it. Reschedules are a normal part of the workflow, and our team manages the back-and-forth with hosts directly. You'll see the updated time on your calendar, no action needed on your end.

What happens if you don't hit the guaranteed bookings?+

We keep working at no additional cost until your guaranteed booking count is met. The terms are spelled out in your agreement, no fine print, no asterisks.

Do you help with the interview itself?+

We deliver a prep doc before every recording with the host's bio, audience profile, the angle we pitched, three pre-mapped talking points, and a soft CTA you can weave in naturally. We do not coach you live, you're the expert, but we make sure you walk in knowing exactly who's on the other side and what to focus on.
